About
Me
I like writing and I get a kick out of doing it by hand. The blank page isn't an obstacle for me, it's a sheet of opportunity.
Sometimes it stares into you, usually I find myself discovering something thanks to it.
Photography is a budding hobby for me and one I've held dear for a long time. I learned to shoot first on film on a blue Fisher Price 16mm my folks got me for Christmas. Point-and-shoot came next, one that allowed for me to I always had the flash on somewhat oxymoronically, and discovered candids. Now, I still have that point-and-shoot, but my main rig is a Fuji XS-10.
I like to fish, I like to hike, I like outdoors. I don't like bugs. I'm a gamer. Ask me about Baldur's Gate 3.
Work
I just build email.
This means I spend my working days in the dark corner of the web where tables are still load-bearing and CPM is crazy. It's HTML and CSS that might have looked current in 2004 that no one can escape.
Maybe the appeal lies in the constraint of it all. You cannot flex (or grid) your way out of a sticky layout, so you commit to the table.
The rest of the job is deliverability, which is really filing: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and the slow forensic business of working out why one mailbox provider decided you were a stranger this week.
Eight years of that will change how you look at a ruled page. I love it, I do. And that may sound crazy, but you're here on my website built to look like a sheet of notebook paper.
